Perennials are a garden’s best friend! Landscaper and owner of Bohonyi Landscaping, John Bohonyi shares his top 2 reasons for why you should have more perennial plants in your garden:
They Return Each Spring
Perhaps the best reason for planting perennials is that they return each and every year. Spring after spring, the beautiful plant life that you put into your garden will come back. Unlike annual plants which die and need to be replanted in order to return, your perennials are practically ‘forever!’ Of course, this also means that they’re cost-effective, since the investment will last you a much longer period of time than an annual garden addition.
They’re Cold-Hardy Plants
Most perennial plants are cold-hardy. That means that these plants are able to withstand harsh temperatures, including below zero. For this reason, the vegetables, herbs, flowers and other greenery are able to survive through the winter. It also means that these plants can handle a lot, making perennial plants ideal for gardeners looking for something a bit lower maintenance.
