It is difficult to determine exactly how much landscaping will cost. According to Forbes, landscaping can cost anywhere from $4-$12 per square foot for basic services, and $40 per square foot if you’re looking for a complete redesign.
Here are some things to consider when thinking about your budget:
- What things do you need to fix in your yard? If there are any safety issues or things in your yard that could lead to further property damage, make those things your priority in the budget.
- What are some “nice-to-haves” or “wants” in your yard? This is the fun part where you get to imagine how you want to use this space. Do you want a place to gather the family for a barbecue? Do you want to grow your own vegetables? Make a list of all of the things you want out of your yard.
- How much time do you plan on staying in this home?
- What is the value of your home currently? According to the American Society of Landscape Architects, a thorough landscape upgrade can increase the value of your property by 15%
